TIN BRONZES
Copper-tin alloys with a certain amount of tin are the most important bronzes in terms of industry. The most important features of tin bronzes are their high resistance to corrosion and high wear resistance. They also have excellent lubrication capabilities. Bronzes containing 6% tin are suitable for cold and hot working. Increasing the amount of tin increases the material strength. On the other hand, the elongation ability decreases considerably. Bronzes containing 10-12% tin are the most ideal in terms of mechanical properties. This type of bronze is preferred in casting parts. Cast bronzes contain tin, lead, phosphorus and nickel. Tin bronzes known as Cuptin, Cuptin3 and Cuptin4 can be preferred in shafts with a hardness of 300 HB and below. They are the preferred bearing bronzes in the bearings of unhardened shafts because their own hardness is also very low. Due to this feature, they do not damage the shaft. There are also zinc-containing varieties of leaded tin bronzes. Cuptin1A and Cuptin1B are examples of this group. Both alloys are preferred in shafts operating at low and high speeds. Since the most common area of use of these types of bronzes is shafts, the amount of use of these alloys is also quite high.
